A Queensland storage lake on the Proserpine River, stocked with barramundi and sooty grunter.
Lake Proserpine is the water formed by Peter Faust Dam on the Proserpine River; the two names describe the same water. The fish stocked into it are barramundi and sooty grunter, so those are the species to plan around.
Sunwater owns the dam, and its site is the place to check current facilities and dam alerts before a trip. The dam is found on Crystalbrook Road, about 36 km west of Airlie Beach.
Before you fish, read the current Queensland fishing rules from Fisheries Queensland, part of the Department of Primary Industries.
