Late-summer land insects blown onto the water — and a highlight for the early-August end of the trip. As the rivers drop and clear, big cutthroat look up for grasshoppers, ants and beetles along the banks. A breezy afternoon hopper bite is some of the most exciting dry-fly fishing of the year.
