A classic, highly versatile pattern featuring a spun deer-hair head and turkey-feather wings. It can be fished active subsurface to imitate sculpins and baitfish, or greased to float on the surface as an imitation of grasshoppers.

Key points

•
Active Retrieves. Subsurface drifts are typically swung or stripped through deep seams, pools, and boulder transitions where bull trout wait.
•
Surface Skating. Fished dry (often greased with floatant) during late summer terrestrial hatches, skated or twitched across surface currents to provoke explosive cutthroat strikes entomology hatches 2026 06.
