Chubby Chernobyl

A highly buoyant foam-bodied dry fly featuring a flash wing and rubber legs. It serves as a prominent imitation of large stoneflies (such as the Golden Stonefly) and grasshoppers, and as a superior lead float fly in "dry-dropper" rigs on freestone rivers.

Key points

•
High Buoyancy. Tied with closed-cell foam and synthetic wing materials, allowing it to float high even when supporting heavy weighted nymph droppers.
•
Opportunistic Attraction. Very effective for freestone westslope cutthroat trout which readily rise to large, flash-loaded surface targets creston flyfishing web research 2026 06.
