Fly pattern

Klinkhammer

An legendary European emerger pattern created by Hans van Klinken. Tied on a curved hook with a parachute hackle, it floats with the hackle and wing post on top of the surface tension, while the body hangs vulnerably below to mimic a hatching insect.

Key points

•
Surface Profile: The curved hook allows the abdomen to sit deep in the water column, simulating a trapped emerger.
•
Buoyancy: Highly buoyant poly-yarn wing post wrapped with a thick parachute hackle.
•
Trigger: Fish view it as a vulnerable, struggling insect unable to fly away.
