A New South Wales trout water with brown and rainbow trout, best known for dry-fly fishing through the warmer months and best left alone in a drought.
Jocks Water is a New South Wales trout water that rewards a dry fly. Rainbow trout are the fish to expect, with brown trout listed alongside them, and the rainbows are described as willing risers that rarely top a pound and a half. Dries work through most of the season, and large hoppers and stimulators are taken readily from mid-spring to mid-autumn. Start with a Parachute Adams or Royal Wulff, and keep a Hare’s Ear nymph for when nothing is rising. In a drought year, when the water runs warm, leave it alone. Check the NSW DPIRD freshwater trout guide for current rules before you go.
