A small NSW creek that runs into the Mowamba River, with brown trout stocked into it, fished with light gear, small dries and nymphs.
Grosses Plain Creek is a small stream in New South Wales that runs down to join the Mowamba River. NSW stocking records show brown trout released into it, which makes it a place for a quiet day with a light rod rather than a destination trip.
Fish it in the warmer months. Pick a spot from the access card (locations only, so read the signs and fences on the ground), walk to the water and fish upstream with a dry fly and a small nymph under it. The current NSW trout guide decides when you can fish and what you can keep, so read it before you settle on a date.
Do not plan a long drive around this creek alone. It suits a day when you are already in the district, and the Mowamba River it feeds is a good bet to pair it with.
